## Book Clubs
**Book Clubs** take many forms, but in simplest terms they are for people to get together to discuss books and reading and to hopefully enjoy themselves and connect with each other.
Across North East Lincolnshire there are a small number of book clubs and groups - maybe one of these will be of interest to join? Or maybe you’ll be interested in starting your own group where you live?
_The list below is from September 2026 and is hopefully accurate. If you know that we’ve missed something or got something wrong, please let us know. Also please contact a group before you try to attend - they may be full or their own way of getting people involved_

We’ve published this article on 11th September 2026 which happens to be “**[Book Club Day](https://bookclubhub.co.uk/news/book-club-day-26)**”. This is a day of celebrating reading led by The Reading Agency. (**[Details here](https://bookclubhub.co.uk/news/book-club-day-26)**). The 2026 day is about becoming a “Reading Rebel”. So why not become a rebel yourself by connecting to one of the groups below (or maybe even starting up one of your own!)
### GROUPS VIA THE LIBRARIES
Lincs Inspire runs many of the Libraries across North East Lincolnshire. There are book clubs at each.
**[Details are on the Lincs Inspire website here](https://lincsinspire.com/libraries-archives/whats-on-at-lincs-inspire-libraries/)** and **[here](https://lincsinspire.com/libraries-archives/reading-groups/)**.
The “**[Silent Book Club](https://lincsinspire.com/event/silent-book-club/)**” is a book club with a twist. It runs from Cleethorpes Library on the last Tuesday of the month.
Cleethorpes Library also has a morning reading group on the first Thursday of the month.
Immingham Library has two groups - first Monday and first Friday, and
Waltham Library has one on the third Tuesday (but that’s currently full) and one on the fourth Friday.
Note that there used to be a reading group from Grimsby Library as well, but that’s currently on hold during library redevelopment.
Details of each of these can be found in our list and on the Lincs Inspire libraries website **[here](https://lincsinspire.com/libraries-archives/reading-groups/)**.

Whilst Centre4 in Grimsby runs a Book Club too, it’s largely aimed at their Thrive Social Prescribing clients. Talk to Centre4 about this group if it seems relevant. (It’s on the second Monday each month, 1pm-2.30pm).
At VANEL we’re launching our own book group in October 2026. **“Curious” is a non-fiction reading club about ideas**. Monthly face to face meetings at our community hub (at 82 Grimsby Road, Cleethorpes) are supported by an online community discussion space. Keep an eye on the **[VANEL website](https://www.vanel.org.uk/)** and this **[Neighbours Together website](https://nelwatch.org.uk/neighbourstogether/)** for more details. (Or Contact Karl or Liz at VANEL).
### ONLINE CLUBS
Whilst face-to-face groups are great, there are also a few opportunities to read together via online groups.
Chapter25 Book Club runs online groups and you can find out more on their website **[here](https://www.chapter25bookclub.com/)**.
[Fable.co](http://Fable.co) is a site with online book clubs and communities. Take a look here.
There’s also the UK based **[Book Club Hub](https://bookclubhub.co.uk/)** website to visit.
### WHAT HAVE WE MISSED?
Are there local groups and clubs that we’ve missed? Let us know.
There are clearly lots of places across North East Lincolnshire without a reading or book club. Do you want to help start one? Get in touch with VANEL and we may be able to help you get something established.
### MORE ABOUT READING
VANEL continues to try and proactively support reading across North East Lincolnshire. We’ve hosted one-off reading groups from our community hub in Cleethorpes; we’ve supported book trails, little libraries, and Karl - our Development Manager - is a National Year of Reading Champion. We work with other local partners - such as Hammond House - to keep working on initiatives to bring books and reading to everyone.
